Location

The Blue Heron Beach lies on the coastline of the Skagit County of Washington State, USA. The beach lies on the southern side of the coastline of the Vancouver Islands.

Tourist attractions

The beach seems a dull place during winter months. But during the summer months the beach is an active place with some human beings and lots of birds enjoying a welcome sunshine. When the water is breaking gently at the shore, those who come to the beach for sightseeing can be seen sunbathing, swimming, relaxing, or simply white water paddling apart from boating. Since the region is home to some migratory birds, one can watch birds here during the summer. The other pleasure activities one can enjoy here are sailing, fishing, and para sailing. As the beach lies near major islands, one can also find many sailors relaxing and unwinding during summer.

Visitors to the beach can enjoy watching a beautiful sunset along with the residents who can be seen relaxing after a hard day’s work. The Olympia Mountains that lie behind the beach and the Beacon Hill Park, provide a larger view of the beach and the flock of sea gulls in their flight. There may also be some sightseers here enjoying a holiday. One can always find a quiet corner for oneself at this beach. Samish Beach is the neighbouring beach which is hardly a mile away from here. Another water body of interest to the tourists is the Whatcom Creek. A good place to meet people from Bellingham would be the Fish Point.

Those interested in skiing can enjoy skiing at the Mt. Baker, located just 10 miles away from the beach. Birdwatchers visiting the beach will enjoy watching the flock of birds during the seasons of fall and the spring.

Best period to visit

The month when there is least moisture in the air is July and it is also the best time to visit the beach.
