Location

The Terrill Beach is part of the shore line of the northern part of Orcas Island where the waters of the Strait of Georgia washes ashore on the beach. This forms a part of the San Juan County of the state of Washington, USA.

Tourist attractions

This beach because of its remoteness is not very popular with tourists. But the residents of Orcas Island come to the beach to relax and enjoy their leisure time. The beach is a good place to stretch and tan during summer. People from the nearby Orcas Island Airport can be seen sometimes at the beach relaxing after a hard shift. The activities that one can enjoy here at this beach are swimming in the open ocean water, one can also try fishing here, and with a boat one can try to explore the surroundings. While boating, one can go around the shoreline at the Orcas Island Beach. The shining water reflecting the sunlight during summer invites one to relax on the beach.

There are other interesting places on this island that one may wish to see while touring the Orcas Island. Otherwise one may visit the Ship Bay. To enjoy a nice view one can go to Point Thompson. An underwater adventure awaits one at Parker Reef. The neighboring Crescent Beach is also a good place for tourists visiting the beach.

For golf enthusiasts, there is the Orcas Island Golf Course barely 2 miles from the beach. There are some national parks that one can visit but these are located about 50 miles from here. The other beaches one can plan to visit while touring the Terrill Beach are the North Beach, the Kimple Beach, and the Chin-Chin-Tse-Tung Beach.

Best period to visit

One might come here during the month of July as it is the driest month in this region with the maximum sunshine.

Access

To reach the island one can choose to land at the Orcas Island Airport. From there the N Beach Rd., takes one to Sunset Ave., which leads to the beach. There are also some ferry services connecting Orcas Island with the neighboring islands and Anacortes. But with a seaplane one can really enjoy island hopping.

The beach is not patrolled by lifeguards. Hence one will have to be careful while swimming in the ocean water and avoid strong currents.
