Location

The West Beach lies near the southern end of the Lummi Island just north of the waters of Sunrise Cove, Hale Passage, and Portage Bay. This beach is the southern boundary of the Lummi Bay, in the Whatcom County of the state of Washington, USA.

Tourist attractions

The beach lies on a peninsular landmass between Lummi Bay and Bellingham Bay. This makes it a good place for water sports and hiking. As it is surrounded by water bodies one can enjoy swimming along the coastline here. With a boat one can explore the shore line for long hours. As this place is not far from major cities and routes, one can choose to relax here at the beach when travelling along the coastline. One can also row along the shore here and enjoy the undulating motion of the waves. As there lies an island beside the beach, one may be tempted to visit the island while exploring the surroundings on a boat.

Another pleasure activity here is fishing. If one has ample time on hand, then one can sink a line and watch the hours go by as one awaits a catch. The shore is also good for a walk and jogging. Traveling along the coastline can be a thrilling experience as one gets to see the various water bays near the beach. The sight of water breaking slowly on the protected beach is as exciting as dipping one’s feet in the cold waters during summer.

The beach lacks public amenities hence one will have to think before bringing one’s family here. People visiting the beach come mostly from Ferndale and Bellingham. Some people from Blaine can also be seen at the beach.

The places one can tour while visiting the beach are the Fisherman’s Cove, the view point called Gooseberry Point, and also the Brown Dam. One can also visit the Lummi Marine Park, and the Whatcom Creek.
